Take a look at some of the standard products we offer on this page. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

BUMPERS & FENDERS LH1 (SD, D, H)

Our most common profiles of marine fendering; we supply individual lengths from 6in to 22ft for both small and large quantities. These sizes are the industry standard; however, we also produce custom sizes as required. Standard hardness is 70 durometer, with other durometers and colours available on request.

BUMPERS & FENDERS LH2 (C, WT, LT)

Other profiles of marine fendering: Our C-type cross-section is designed to be held in position with a length of chain. The WT profile can be slid into a channel or welded to angles for ease of maintenance. Our LT profile should be used on lighter-duty applications as an edge protector; it can be attached with a flat bar. Again, different durometers (hardness) and colours are available on request.

BUMPERS & FENDERS LH3 (SPLIT-D, R, P)

The Split-D fender is designed for light load applications with ease of attachment in mind. The P profile is designed as an edge protector for lighter applications. The R profile is meant for heavy-duty applications and is available in other custom sizes, durometers (hardness) and colours on request.

HATCH SEALS ORDER FORM

Hatch Seals are another popular product group. We extrude several hundred different cross sections in hardness ranging from 5 durometer to 90 durometer. Our material is designed to replace foam rubber, which has porosity allowing the infiltration of water and debris. Water will freeze, causing the foam to chip apart. The materials we use are non-porous solid rubber. Rubber formulations can be selected for UV, oil/chemical and temperature resistance. This order form can be used for standard shapes and sizes. If you have any questions or require a custom shape, please contact us by phone or email.

ROLLER LAGGING REQUIREMENTS

We have been relagging all types of pulleys and rollers with rubber for over 40 years. The rubber is hot vulcanized to the metal as opposed to cold bonding with adhesives. The thickness of rubber lagging can be tailored to the customer’s needs. A variety of rubber compounds are available for UV, oil/chemical, temperature resistance, as well as traction requirements. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

WHAT IS CUSTOM RUBBER AND HOW IS IT MADE?

Custom rubber refers to rubber materials and products specifically formulated and manufactured to meet unique mechanical, thermal, or chemical requirements. Unlike standard rubber parts, custom rubber components are engineered for specific applications, ensuring optimal fit, function, and longevity.

The manufacturing process includes:

MATERIAL SELECTION

  • The process begins by identifying the appropriate rubber compound, such as natural rubber, EPDM, silicone, nitrile, or neoprene, based on the product’s required properties, including temperature resistance, elasticity, and chemical compatibility.

  • In Canada’s marine and industrial environments, selecting the right compound ensures performance in variable coastal conditions common across Nova Scotia.

MOULDING AND CURING

  • The compound is shaped through compression, transfer, or injection moulding, depending on the part’s complexity.

  • Curing (or vulcanization) involves applying heat and pressure to crosslink the rubber’s molecular structure, giving it elasticity and resilience.

COMPOUNDING

  • Additives such as fillers, vulcanizing agents, and stabilizers are blended to create a rubber compound that meets exact mechanical specifications.

  • Compounding is essential for achieving the required balance of strength, flexibility, and durability.

FINISHING AND QUALITY TESTING

  • Each custom rubber product undergoes trimming, inspection, and mechanical testing to ensure compliance with dimensional and material specifications.

  • Our facility in Halifax adheres to recognized industrial standards to maintain consistency across all production batches.

Each material is selected based on technical compatibility, ensuring long service life and optimal performance in Nova Scotia’s varying climates.

TOP BENEFITS OF CHOOSING CUSTOM RUBBER OVER STANDARD RUBBER PARTS

Opting for custom rubber components offers measurable advantages across industrial and manufacturing operations in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

PRECISION FIT FOR SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS

  • Custom rubber parts are designed to exact tolerances, ensuring a secure fit in machinery, vehicles, or marine systems.

  • This reduces the likelihood of leakage, vibration, and mechanical wear.

DURABILITY AND COST EFFICIENCY

  • Custom rubber components often last longer than off-the-shelf alternatives, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.

  • Fewer replacements translate to long-term operational savings.

IMPROVED PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY

  • Properly designed rubber components reduce vibration, dampen noise, and prevent mechanical failure.

  • Each design contributes to safer, more efficient equipment operation.

MATERIAL OPTIMIZATION

  • By selecting specific rubber formulations, clients can achieve targeted performance characteristics such as oil resistance, UV stability, or flexibility at sub-zero temperatures.

  • This level of material control is particularly valuable for Nova Scotia’s coastal industries exposed to varying environmental conditions.

VERSATILITY IN DESIGN AND APPLICATION

  • Custom rubber can be moulded into virtually any shape or hardness level.

  • This adaptability supports Halifax’s diverse industrial base, including transportation, marine, and energy sectors.
